Material Transparency:
Dependant on wall thickness; Light transmission is shown to be 88% for a 3mm thick sample. Clear UPVC pipe has a slight blue- grey tint and so should not be expected to be 100% optically clear. Chemical and thermical stress can cause discolouration.
Abrasion Resistance:
UPVC clear pipe is not suitable for applications with high levels of abrasion. Over a short period of time, the inside wall of the pipe will become gradually more opaque as it scored and marked by abrasive media.
UV Resistance:
UPVC is not naturally considered UV resistant and no UV stabilisers have been added to our product. This means that gradually over time, depending on the intensity of the sunlight, the clear PVC pipe will gradually become opaque if exposed to the sun. In the UK, this process will typically take three to five years before the media cannot be seen in the pipe.
